Actually I have a 5500/275 so mine is a little bit faster. I run 8.6 on it.

There are a few sellers near me who have lots of computers for sale. One of them has beige G3 desktops stacked floor to ceiling (I bought one for ten bucks last fall and haven't touched it since because I snagged an iMac the next morning). Another has a ton of 5200-5400-5500 all-in-ones. And the Arlington school district is dumping their beige G3's two at a time on eBay. Another guy has a large stack of sad little G3/233 cacheless Powerbooks. Then there's me, who sold off my other 4400-7600-8500 machines over the past few months in my eBay store. I had bought a lot of sixteen mixed machines, stripped a few, kept a few, and sold the rest and more than tripled my money.

Does the late PPC powermac mobo fit a 5400 case?

I dont think it'll make a difference in speed with the stock CPU since I have a sonnet, but I think at least it may help--maybe? Bus speed would be higher.
