I was looking for a 1400 or a 3400 but found this one Kanga for sale. According to LEM, Powerbook G3 alias 3500 alias Kanga should run any system from 7.6 to 9.1. I have a 7.6.1 retail CD, but does it istall to a Kanga or would I need some machine specific intall-CD? I'm just wondering since Kanga alias 3500 is pretty much based on 3400 and here on this forum there was something about 3400 not being able to install 7.6. from a retail CD. I haven't bought the Kanga yet, but I'm surely interested in it if it really does 7.6.1 straight from the box.

If LEM does say that, it's probably a typo. No computer that shipped from Apple with a G3 processor can run Mac OS 7. You can, however, buy a PowerBook 1400 or 2400 and install a third-party G3 processor that will run with Mac OS 7.

"requires System 7.6 through 9.1; not certified for Mac OS X"
The Kanga shipped with OS 8.1. I wonder why System 7 is mentioned so many times on that page? Maybe it has something to do with 3400 and the fact that Kangas are pretty rare. Well, better get back to the original idea of getting a 1400.

They probably just copied all of that directly over from the 3400c page and forgot to change it.
