If your looking for a nice machine, maybe I could round up a souped up 3400c with a whopping hard drive and like 140MB ram....

The 1400 has a 10x better keyboard than the 3400c, but the 3400c has a better display, better speakers, can take more ram, faster video, and can be overclocked to 275mhz as you can see from my extremely outdated PowerBook 3400c web site here:

http://www.danpalka.net/hooper/

The big plus of the 1400, though, is it can go up to 466mhz G3.

Whats the max ram on the 1400? I guess i could check apple but I would rather ask.

On the 3400 You mentioned. If it takes IDE Laptop HD's I have a 30 I can put in it. I just need the system and maxed ram if you would.

I think I am going to go for both a 3400 and a 1400 and push them both as far as I can. the 3400c is for me just because I had one after losing my Pismo and well, it really was a nice machine lol.

On the 1400 I had one but it was a very well used one. I am sure if I find a nice one I would love it.

Max ram on the 1400 is something like 96M ram

I would stick with one machine and pish it REALLY far.

Persomally, the 3400c is a nice machine for music and for hardcore internet stuff (due to the PCI chipset)

but the 1400 can go all the way up to a 466Mhz G3 CPU, which rocks...and is the route I would take, even with the initial dip in speed due to the much slower NuBus system bus.

I believe most of the PPC laptops were IDE, but I think adaptors are available to convert 2.5inch IDE drives to work in a SCSI laptop, check that out...I think i found such an adaptor on ebay.

While the TiBook will most likely be staying I have to give my wife a laptop and have one to play with myself lol.
