I just won a 2400c/180 on eBay. It has an external cd drive and my goal is to install OS7.6.1. Is there anything I need to know before I attempt it? Will it install directly from the cd?

Yep. No issues with 7.6.1, it wont work booting from a 7.6 CD, but you should be good to go with that Smile

I'm not following. I have an OS7.6.1 cd. Will that will load directly onto the 2400c? It currently has OS8.1.

It depends on whether or not the cd is computer specific. For example, the version I have of 7.6 is a generic upgrade from apple, it works on any mac that supports it. The 8.6 I use sometimes is from an imac and it won't install on any other computers.(there are ways involving external harddrives and the imac) Dan or some of the other fellas on s7t can get into more detail.

Mine is generic and installed onto all of my 1400s very well. Maybe I am in luck.
